Default PAP2 Generic Dial Plan

As many of us have discovered how good the PAP2 is, the dial plan can still appear a bit confusing.

Following is my dial plan, allowing calls to local numbers without std code, dial 01 and 02 numbers, dial freefone numbers, international, and have some speed dials.

I am currently using internetcalls.com for my free UK and international dialing and sipgate.co.uk for a local telephone number. At present I have not managed to forward my sipgate incoming number to my dialing out line - so any help appreciated.

Anyone new to the PAP2 should read this excellent thread on how to unlock the device. To get your free calls you need to register with a provider such as internetcalls.com, download their application and register. This will then give you a user id and password which you enter into the pap2 and use the sipdiscount server details here.

If you have any better dialplans or suggestions as to how to make this even more flexible then let me know.

( *xx|<:0044????>[3-8]xxxx.|<0:0044>[123]xxxxxxxx.|<0:0044>[58][0][0]xxxxx.|<20:00441234567890>S0|<123:00442070437777>S0|00xxxxxxxxx.)

*xx = allow star type services

<:0044????>[3-8]xxxx. replace ? with area code e.g 1256 (for 01256) and 3-8 means that the local numbers in area 01256 are any number between 3 and 8 followed by at least 4 digits (xxxx.)

<0:0044>[123]xxxxxxxx. = Convert all 01, 02 and 03 calls into international format i.e. 00441 etc

<0:0044>[58][0][0]xxxxx. = Allow 0800 and 0500 calls (freefone calls) and block anything else e.g. 0870 etc.

<20:00441234567890>S0 = Speed dial 20 to call 01234567890

<123:00442070437777>S0 = Speed dial 123 for sipgate voicemail

00xxxxxxxxx. = Allow international numbers starting 00 with at least 9 digits following.

Hi Mike,

I've been using internetcalls for quite some time now but never used/didn't know about PAP2/ATA, what kind of ATA device are you using? I'm usually using internetcalls' callback feature as I don't like the sound quality through my speakers but it would be great to make the calls with a standard phone!

Hi Freddy - the PAP2 is made by Sipura/Linksys/Cisco. Small box costs about £18 on ebay and gives you 2 plain old telephone ports.
You enter your voipstunt/internetcalls or whoever's details via a web interface.
If you are lucky enough to have a telephone number associated with your internetcalls account then this is the perfect solution :-)

Will start uploading more pics and details tomorrow.
I use the PAP2, as well as high quality Mitel sip phones. The call quality is just as good as a landline.

Mike

So does internatcalls' 01133 number work? I mean, does the phone ring when you dial the number? That sounds brilliant!

Sorry to add to it so quickly, a quick search on ebay reveals that they all coming from Hong Kong! Anyone ordered anything from there? Do you need to pay VAT on delivery etc...?

Do not understand what you mean?
If the 01133 belongs to your account, then yes the phone connected to the PAP2 will ring - full caller id etc etc.

As for buying from HK via ebay - I used to buy the PAP2's for less that £10 including postage from HK - every one arrived. No VAT / Customs charges.

Hang on until tomorrow - I will do a proper write up concerning hardware. The PAP2 is great but a voip phone can give you so many extra facilities.
