Read this thread - it appears that Betamax 'had a technical problem' and have reclaimed the freedays back off everyone !!!
As you can tell from my posts, I like using VOIP. There are so many different VOIP companies offering cheap calls that it is difficult to choose which one is best. One thing most people do not realise is that most of them are all owned by the same parent company - Finarea. Take a look at the matrix of providers to make your choice. Finarea appear to be a rather secretive company, and it is often very difficult to get responses from them if you have been wrongly billed (very rare). However it is probably because of this poor customer response that they can keep their prices low? The typical deal with most of the Finarea companies is that you go to their website and download some voip software. The software allows you to register on-line and will allow some free test calls (up to 60 minutes total) via their softphone. Once you have used up your free time they want you to put some money up front. The amount you pay and the number of free days this gives varies between companies. I am happy using http://voipstunt.com and on the website you pay 10 euros plus 19% tax for 120 free days. Because of the exchange rate and tax you will probably pay about £11. While this is not a bad deal, there are voip resellers who will add credit to your account and normally double the number of days that you get for that credit. So I pay 5 euros (plus handling) and get 120 days of credit, 15 euros for 360 days - now that is a good deal Smile I just recently renewed another 360 days and it cost me just over £17, this gives me 300 free minutes over 7 days for 360 days. So how do you do it? I use Roland di Centa at http://www.punshon.com/gold The website is terrible and obviously English is not the first language of the author, however it works. Things to be aware of is that he wants you to give him the account and password details associated with the voip provider. As this will be your first 'credit' it is not really a major problem because as soon as the credit is added to your account just go in and change the password (you get email notification of credit). Doing your first transaction is a bit of a pain (can take 48 hours) but once set up future credits are really easy. I have found his service to be very quick and flawless but be aware that you are giving your money to a third party. When I started using his service I just added 5 euros and when I got the credit I then went ahead and paid for the rest. Welcome to the cheap world of VOIP. Just to endorse what Mike is saying here- I followed his valued advice just over 6 months ago, by renewing my voipstunt credit through Roland at Punshon
You need have no qualms whatsover about giving him your voip password, he only needs it to credit your account with 'double bubble' Freedays, and no other reason. The guy is solid gold!! Cheers- AL
