Does it take a while for a new Sipgate account to work? Just set one up, the gigaset seems happy with it (status=Registered) but testing the new incoming number won't work.
On the Sipgate site, when logged in, it does say...... Device Offline. Normally if settings are wrong the gigaset will show failed registration. SS

Sipgate normally works immediately.
Sounds to me like a firewall / port forwarding problem. Registered means that the gigaset has sent a request to register and got a response back - this is normally repeated every 3600 seconds. When working through a NAT a port is opened and will then close again if unused. If Sipgate does not get a response back then you will get that message. You will probably find that calling sipgate test number will work as you are initiating the outgoing connection (10000). Do not remember all the ports but you must have 5060 forwarded to gigaset and some in the region of 10000-20000 for the voice to work. A common firewal problem is first no registration and secondly one way transmission both of which are normally cured by port forwarding. Also check if there is a NAT keep alive option - this may help. |

Hmmmm, strange one, just logged onto sipgate today and showing as on-line now! Tested new incoming number and that works too!
I haven't changed anything, I guess it was some delay problem with sipgate registration last night. Anyway, fully set up and working on my gigasets now, thanks for the help mike. SS

Wireshark is your friend if you start having these kind of issues
You may need a Hub or a Switch that can Span a port in order to find out these kind of registration issues. PT-1 |
