I did my sons wii just before christmas and put in a wiikey2.Its not hard to do but you have to be really carefull with the soldering iron or you can knacker the drive board which can cost you another 50 quid to replace.I think you can also get a clip on version but it depends on your wii.I cant fault it at all now its done, saves a fortune in games and its better than buying a game to find out its crap....

i chiped our kids after they had it for xmas. used a d2sun v3 pro solderless from here

http://www.wii-chip.co.uk/osc/produc...ac713b12416741

i get all the stuff i need then from usnet . i went for this one because it seems to work on every wii except for the poxy covered one.

it was relitivly simple to fit with the utube video .

Easy as pie, i used a solderless Wiikey 2 from,
http://www.wii-chip.co.uk/

good service arrived very fast.

longest part was taking the wii apart.

Some good video on UTube

you can lay the DVD drive next to the main body and test before you put the unit back together

only problem now is reliable DVD burning i'm just a silver coster factory !!!

Hi Guys,

You dont need to chip anymore you can do a soft mod like the xbox 360 and best of all you dont have to open it up its called the twlight princess hack, and the software all info and wii backup channel loader is made by a guy called wii gator was on gbatemp.net but it looks like this has been taken down now.
there are still torrents around, and I also have the files if needed.
all the best, hope this helps someone out.

Is this harmless to the operation of the wii? I.e. I know with the 360 you cant access xbox live, will there be anything like this effect on my wii if i chip it?

you will also need the original game to do this one, can confirm works spot on, and no need to dismantle the wii, all the files are put on a memory card and inserted in the front of the wii, realy easy!

In addition to the backup launcher app for the homebrew channel, you can from quite recently, run backup games from a usb hard drive using one of the few USB loaders out there. (can also run backups from usb memory sticks)

This way you aren't limited to the 3x read speed that you have from running backups through the drive on a softmodded system. (hardmodded/chipped Wiis read discs at the normal 6x speed like a normal Wii disc would)

Also the games don't take the full 4.3GB space when on the hard drive, quite a few games end up being under 1GB. ^_^ The rest as some of you may know is just padding.

Also smash brothers brawl works on the USB loaders, which as far as I know, does not run on the disc backup loader. ^_^ (runs on hardmodded/chiped wiis as normal though)

Two of the better USB loaders are USB loader GX and Cover Flow. (I use GX myself)

And I think i've waffled on enough about this subject. ^_^

Hi;

i have the wasp chip and wii clip in mine. Works a treat and no soldering!

The newer chips are even easier to install though...you just unclip the dvd drive cable, plug in the chip then plug the cable back in to the chip...easy!
