Default RROD ! :( bbooooo!!!

Today after playing Fifa 10 for around 2 hours flat (yes i was that bored)

It froze when i paused it & switched off & back on to dreaded RROD ! lol

I've seen tutorials on youtube & stuff in the past (because i knew it would happen 1 day)

However, whats the success rate?
Does it work first time every time?
Does it last?

etc...

Not really up for replacing the whole xbox .. cba with that .. but i would fix the RROD thats about it..

anyone expand?

1) how old is it?

2) is the drive flashed?

Personally, even if it is flashed, if it's less than 3 years old make sure the security tamper seal is intact (get 1 from ebay if need be) and send it back to MS for a repair/replacement under the 3 year warrenty agreement.

from what i've read about the guides, it depends how bad the RROD is and how good u are with electronics. Some say cleaning the GPU, new artci paste and loosening the screws make it work - but personally, i'd not trust any home made bodge.

Hi mate thanks for the reply.

Im not at home at the moment, but this is what i know:
* flashed with ixtreme 1.6
* 2006 registered (out of warrenty)

i paid something like £90 from ebay 6 months or so ago.
Its been fine and not had much use tbh, just over xmas period ive been playing fifa for a bit, not even that long compared to what my younger family members play on theirs (literally glued to theirs) and they havnt got RROD.

I think i will pay the person who flashed it for me to fix the RROD.
he said it will cost £25 to repair the RROD for his time and materials such a the paste and fixing screws or something.

Anyone think thats a ok price (if i cnt be bothered to do it myself)

cheers

25 isn't bad i suppose but it's well less than an hours work for someone who knows what they are doing BUT it's no guarantee it'll fix it for good.

More then likely it has already had the RROD fix done to it then thrown on ebay to get rid m8,

Just bear in mind that any RROD fix is temporary and it will eventually go again, saying that you could be lucky and get a year out of it.
