dead xbox, was chipped/softmodded, now doesnt work..

hi, ive read about on forums about my xbox for some time now, its softmodded or chipped i dont know which, but i had it "chipped/softmodded" for £15, so im guessing its the easiest option of the 2?

anyhow, it was fine untill my little brother left it on over night, it never over heated, as the code isnt the over heat code. when i come to turn it on the next day, the xbox sign comes up as usual

as it goes to boot up it says error code 16 i think

i heard its the hard drive locked or something? ive been on websites and even took the xbo apart to plug into pc to unlock the HDD or something, still no joy, any help? (to be honest i didnt really understand what the people ment)

im sure if it was chipped it would have a circut board with switches and led's on . well thats what ours have

then its just been softmodded, its a complete original xbox, i bought it original, it came bk the same but with a different dash and could play backed up games..

i dont know how to get rid of that error code, there are guides on the internet that i have been on and followed, but i dont understand all the jargon!

has anyone ever brought there xbox back to life?

Error 16 points to your Clock

If you unscrew your Xbox and then look under the DVD drive there will be a little extra Circuit Board and that confirms it is been chipped so you can use the method with another HDD.

If there is no circuit Board then the Box was softmodded and hopefully the person who done it kept your EEprom Data for you to create another HDD.

If there has been a larger HDD installed you might be lucky and the "modder" has left you with your original HDD that you could install.

there has been no upgrade in hard-drive, but i do have an original xbox spare which hasnt been modded in any way at all..

the person i dont know who he is, it was just a computer fair who did it..

so the EEprom data wont be available.

bt like i said, i have another original xbox that is 100% original, can i use the hard-drive out of the and plug it into my softmodded one?

sorry i forgot to add, the reason why i want the soft modded one fixed, is because i read up that i can link my dbox2 up to it, but that comes after fixing the damn xbox lol.

then i want the original xbox softmodded to play games on, one for my dbox, one for my games.

Does it just come up with the green writing then you can't unfortunately FTP any longer.

There may be a way to unlock the locked HDD and get your EEProm back and then built a new HDD or fix that one.

Have a browse as I have not got the Links here at the moment.

you can lift the epprom of the mobo and just reprogram it with what you want bro eh no need to chip to fix
